We are proud to bring in world-class talent, including guest artists from New York City, Olympic-level figure skaters & world competitors, and distinguished headliners, enriching the cultural fabric of the region.

Through SOL Community Arts, we focus on youth empowerment by providing scholarships that support arts education, helping the next generation of artists and creatives thrive. At REC, we believe in the power of the arts to inspire, connect, and elevate our communities, ensuring access to transformative experiences for all.
HISTORY
History of Redwood Entertainment Company
Redwood Entertainment Company (REC) began as Redwood Theatre Company (RTC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to producing high-quality theatrical performances and youth arts outreach programs in Sonoma County. RTC’s mission of enriching the community through the arts became the foundation upon which REC was built. Over time, as new creative divisions were developed—including Redwood Ice Theatre Company (RITC), For The Art Productions (FTA), and SOL Community Arts—the need for a unified umbrella organization became clear.

REC was established to bring these unique divisions together, allowing each to thrive while maintaining a shared mission of fostering creativity, inclusivity, and professional artistry. Though REC now encompasses multiple branches, RTC remains the original nonprofit that inspired and continues to support this growing network of artistic endeavors. Today, REC serves as a vital hub for creativity in Northern California, offering a diverse array of performances, media productions, and youth arts opportunities that inspire and connect our community.
FOUNDER
About the Founder, Carmen Maria Mitchell
REC was founded by Carmen Maria Mitchell—a singer-songwriter, actress, and professional figure skater. As a BIPOC, women-owned organization, REC embodies Carmen’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, actively uplifting LGBTQIA+ artists and ensuring a welcoming space for all. Born and raised in Northern California, Carmen developed her artistic and community-centered vision early in life. She went on to study performing arts and social justice at the University of San Francisco, where she was inspired to establish a theatre company rooted in both artistic excellence and social impact.

Currently working as a bicoastal artist in New York City and California, Carmen continues her work as an artist and producer, building connections across the coasts and fostering an artistic community that spans both Northern California and NYC.
MISSION
A Foundation of Inspiration and Impact
Today, Redwood Entertainment Company upholds Carmen’s original vision by serving as a vital hub for the arts in Sonoma County and Napa Valley. With an unwavering commitment to DEI values, REC and its Divisions—Redwood Theatre Company, Redwood Ice Theatre Company, For The Art Productions, and SOL Community Arts—bring quality productions and empowering opportunities to Northern California.
REC remains focused on its mission to inspire, enrich, and connect communities through the transformative power of the arts.
